The Candidate has been built on a combination of both recruitment sector and marketing sector experience, which we believe helps us to best address client and candidate requirements. Over the last 5 years we've employed the right mix of people from these backgrounds who have stayed with us and grown their careers here. But it's not only about the mix, it's identifying the right people from those sectors that will ensure we continue to be successful and continue to grow with the region's digital, marketing and media sectors.

So read about Sarah Molden who has recently joined us from a media sales background and why she hasn't only chosen to move into recruitment, but why she has chosen The Candidate.

Can you tell us more about your background?
I worked in media sales for 12 years at some of the best known media companies in the UK. Starting as most sales people do at a classified level, I then moved up to display and then into creative solutions, specialising in digital and print content. I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing brands and with a lot of media and creative agencies so I have a good understanding of what they look for in a candidate.

Why did you choose to go into recruitment?
The main reason I wanted to go into recruitment is to prove to people that we are not all bad! I want to help people to find the next step in their careers, as do all the people who work at The Candidate. It is such an important part of your life, you should love where you work and be passionate about it. I want to help people find the right fit for them, just like I have done at The Candidate.

What do you think you can do for Agency candidates on the market?
I know that it is such a hard decision to move jobs, especially when you have been at a company for a long time. I will be able to advise candidates on opportunities within the market and which would best suit them. For me it is all about the candidate-client fit and I will be able to help to find the right place for them to fulfil their career aspirations.

What are you always looking for in a candidate?
I want honesty from my candidates, it is really important to know what would motivate them within their next role and to be honest about it. Having strong skills and a passion for digital is also really important along with the right attitude. Finding a job is easy, finding the perfect job is a lot more difficult but that is what we want to achieve.

Why did you want to work at The Candidate?
I never thought I would ever move into recruitment, I had some really bad experiences in the past with consultants who didn't listen or care. However, when I met with the team at The Candidate I knew they were different. From my initial call with Matt I realised that he actually wanted to hear about what I was looking for, then when I met with Simon, Brian, Laura and Colin I was sold. Everyone makes you feel welcome and part of the family and they are all there to help you. They understood how I was feeling moving into a new profession, as the majority don't have recruitment backgrounds themselves.

Coming from the South have you noticed any differences in the Digital Industry?
Having started my career in London I have always thought of it as being the home of media. However, over the last decade the digital industry has evolved with a lot of regional growth. In particular, many media agencies have chosen to make the North their new hub, you only have to look as far as the BBC and global media giants such as Dentsu Aegis to see the calibre of businesses who have made the move. The digital industry is booming in the North and this the main reason   I decided to build my new life in Manchester.

The Candidate is not like other recruitment companies, we put the candidate first (the name says it all).
