Keep on top of key industry words such as SEO, PPC, affiliate marketing, content marketing, SEO PR, social strategy, online marketing - and demonstrate your knowledge to your potential employers.
The best way to keep on top of industry trends is practice. Agencies and businesses want a digital/ marketing professional that is well practiced on using the Internet.
Having an online presence whether be on Twitter or on your own website is imperative. It's an online representation of your interests, industry knowledge, and writing and communication skills.
